Writer Bio

Maya Ibrahim, 29, from Singapore, is currently based in Berlin.

She completed her Bachelor’s in Sociology at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and spent a year abroad in New York as part of the NUS Overseas Colleges programme.

After which, she began her career in Management Consulting.

Upon getting jaded with the corporate life, she decided to go on a personal “me-search” journey in her Global Studies Master’s Programme at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. This took her across continents to Berlin, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, and a little while in India.

This photo was taken the day Maya submitted her thesis on:

“How do daughters bargain with the patriarchy?”

Which she hopes she can dive in deeper in her next book.

As for now, her life revolves around her debut book titled

“How to love our mothers”.
